OpenIV is a multi-purpose editor and game manager from Rockstar Games.
Today, we are pleased to announce the release of OpenIV 4.0.1, a minor update focused on improving game support and stability.
Installation and Updating
With this release, we are starting to implement a new OpenIV installation and updating system. Here are the first changes we have implemented:
The size of the installation package has been reduced.
All future updates, from this version to new ones, will download significantly faster than previous ones.
Our plans for improvements to the installation and updating system include:
Support for partial patches. We will be able to update only certain OpenIV files (for example, the RDR 2 namebase or UI localization packs) without updating the entire application.
Support for multiple update channels will allow us to distribute BETA versions before the general release.
We plan to implement these changes later this year.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Support
We have two main areas of focus for Red Dead Redemption 2 support: file names and bug fixes.
In OpenIV 4.0.1 we added many names for files, audio tracks, and some text entries. Most of these names and strings were found by the modding community. And to keep track of all the names and strings found, a new repository was created on GitHub, anyone can use it and contribute.
Other changes for RDR 2:
We fixed a bug due to which it was impossible to launch Red Dead Redemption 2 from OpenIV.
We fixed a bug that caused OpenIV to crash when opening some RDR 2 audio files.
We fixed a bug due to which exporting multi-channel RDR 2 audio files did not work correctly.
We fixed a bug due to which OpenIV could not work with some RDR 2 textures. We added the ability to export META/PSO files to XML format from the context menu
Grand Theft Auto IV: Complete Edition Support
Recently Rockstar Games updated GTA IV to Grand Theft Auto IV: Complete Edition and we had to work a little to support this version:
We added the ability to view animations and cutscenes from episodes (The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony) if OpenIV works with GTA IV: Complete Edition.
We fixed a bug due to which it was impossible to launch GTA IV: Complete Edition from OpenIV.
We added new keys for entries in GXT files.
General changes, improvements and fixes of OpenIV 4.1
Improved hash generator
The main change in this release is an improved hash generator tool. Hash Generator as has options to:
Change hashing algorithm: Default, case sensitive, AWC
Change output format: Hexadecimal, unsigned int, signed int
Generate as you type
You can now create a sequence of folders at once (e.g. x64\data\lang);
We have added a rename function to the Organize Favorites dialog;
More file types are now associated with the text editor;
Fixed a bug where OpenIV would generate invalid XML exported by the “Export to XML” function.
